10 consejos de David Ogilvy sobre cómo escribir

"La buena escritura no es un don natural. Tienes que aprender a escribir bien".

¿Cómo es que no llevas a cabo tu propósito de año nuevo de leer más y escribir mejor? Si lo que te falta es un empujón, aquí tienes una muestra sin concesiones de valiosa sabiduría, a cargo de un tipo nada ortodoxo de leyenda cultural: David Ogilvy, icónico hombre de negocios y "Mad Man" original. 

El 7 de septiembre de 1982, Ogilvy envió la siguiente nota interna a todos los empleados de la agencia, titulada "Cómo escribir", que posteriormente fue publicada en la joya de 1986 “The Unpublished David Ogilvy”.

Cuanto mejor escribas, más ascenderás en Ogilvy & Mather. Las gente que piensa bien, escribe bien.
Las personas de mentalidad vaga, escriben notas vagas, cartas vagas y discursos vagos.
La buena escritura no es un don natural. Tienes que aprender a escribir bien. Aquí tienes 10 consejos:

1. Léete el libro Roman-Raphaelson sobre escritura. Léetelo tres veces.
2. Escribe como hables. De manera natural.
3. Utiliza palabras cortas, frases cortas y párrafos cortos.
4. Nunca utilices palabras de jerga como reconceptualizar, demasificación, actitudinalmente, juiciosamente. Son señas de identidad de un pedante.
5. No escribas nunca más de dos páginas sobre cualquier tema.
6. Revisa tus citas.
7. Nunca envíes una carta o una nota el día que la escribas. Léetela en voz alta a la mañana siguiente y luego, edítala.
8. Si se trata de algo importante, consulta a un colega para mejorarlo.
9. Antes de enviar tu carta o tu nota, asegúrate de que queda muy claro lo que deseas que haga el destinatario.
10. Si lo que quieres es ACCIÓN, no escribas. Ve y dile a la persona lo que quieres.

Gender identity refers to a person’s internal sense of being male, female or something else; gender expression refers to the way a person communicates gender identity to others through behavior, clothing, hairstyles, voice or body characteristics. “Trans” is sometimes used as shorthand for “transgender.” While transgender is generally a good term to use, not everyone whose appearance or behavior is gender-nonconforming will identify as a transgender person. The ways that transgender people are talked about in popular culture, academia and science are constantly changing, particularly as individuals’ awareness, knowledge and openness about transgender people and their experiences grow.
